In his new series of works, Stanimir Genov starts with the generation of shapes and volumes in a 3D software. The digital image serves as a viewpoint for a landscape and provides the basis for the creation of a painting, in which all the spatial information of these non-existing environments is encoded. This particular cycle of the working process enables a dialogue between technology and the artistic imagination and thus constructs a personal reality, transcending the impulses of the surrounding world.

The series interprets today’s anxieties, caused by our own technical development. Loosely based on imagery from a century ago, Stanimir tries to resurrect the optimistic feeling of that time. That process, of course, it’s impossible without taking into account the arrogant behavior of our species today. In that sense the title of the exhibition that contains works from the series “There are much nicer planets in the universe than Earth”, is pure mockery with our society.

In the current exhibition “There are much nicer planets in the universe than Earth”, prepared in the period 2021-2022 especially for Structura Gallery, he again focuses on a particular theme that preoccupies him – the increasingly frequent speculation about life on other planets as a possible escape from our failed mission on Earth.
From the media we are constantly inundated with information about the ambitious races of extraplanetary rich people to conquer space.
